The short version
- It moves, it doesn't delete.Folderfinch moves your files by renaming them inside the folders you choose. It never deletes anything unless you pick Clean up, and even then it only moves things to the Trash.
- You pick the AI.If you use a cloud AI, file names and details (and, only if you turn reading on, words read from screenshots, PDFs or images) are sent to that AI to decide where things go.
- You can rewind.Rewind any tidy, folder or single file from inside Folderfinch.
- Keep backups.Folderfinch is open-source software provided "as is". Keep backups of anything you can't lose.
- The Week Pass doesn't renew.The $5 Week Pass is a one-time purchase for 7 days of hosted AI with an included allowance.
Using Folderfinch
You're responsible for choosing what Folderfinch organizes. Don't point it at folders you don't have the right to change (for example, shared folders other people rely on); Folderfinch tries to detect and skip shared and app-managed folders, but it can't guarantee it.
Your files stay yours
We never receive your files. When you use the Week Pass, requests pass through our relay to the AI providers so we can count usage; we don't store their contents.
AI answers can be wrong
Folderfinch asks you about anything it isn't sure of, shows you the full plan before moving anything, and lets you rewind. Still, check the plan.
Third-party AI
If you use your own keys or accounts (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, ChatGPT/Codex), their terms apply to what you send them. Folderfinch doesn't offer "use your Claude subscription" because Anthropic's terms don't allow it.
The Week Pass
One-time payment, 7 days from purchase, a fair-use allowance per pass. Refunds within 14 days if you didn't use it. We may block passes used to abuse the relay (for example, as a general-purpose AI service).
License
The app is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later; some libraries under Apache-2.0. See the repository for details. "Folderfinch" and the bird mascot are trademarks of the project.
No warranty; limits
Provided as is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for lost data or indirect damages. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.
Changes
If these terms change, Folderfinch shows you what changed and asks you to agree again before doing anything.
